Chinese Power Companies Eye Vietnam’s Market at Vietnam ETE and Enertec Expo 2023

On July 19, 2023, the 16th International Exhibition on Electrical Technology and Equipment (Vietnam ETE 2023) and the 13th International Exhibition on Energy-Saving Technology and Green Energy (Enertec Expo 2023) commenced at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.

This event was supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, co-organized by the Center for Industrial Development Assistance of Ho Chi Minh City and C.I.S Vietnam Company.

Over 350 domestic and international companies, including exhibitors from China, Germany, France, USA, Japan, and South Korea, participated in the event. Vietnam ETE and Enertec Expo 2023 took place from July 19 to July 21, 2023.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Do Thang Hai, highlighted the exhibition’s practical opportunities for businesses to engage in trade promotion, technology transfer, investment, and expand production and business operations. He emphasized how this event would contribute positively to the development of Vietnam’s electricity and energy sector, enabling the successful implementation of the national energy strategy while safeguarding the environment.

Mr. Do Thang Hai stated, “With advantages in geography and climate, Vietnam is considered a country with potential for renewable energy development, capable of replacing fossil fuels and reducing environmental impacts. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has recently presented the Government with multiple mechanisms to encourage clean and renewable energy development, such as hydroelectric, wind, solar, biomass, etc., with a series of breakthrough policies that are expected to generate significant momentum for this sector’s growth in Vietnam.”

Deputy Secretary-General of the China Electricity Council, Mr. Yu Xuehao, noted the solid foundation of cooperation between China’s energy industry and Vietnam. Over time, Chinese power companies have actively participated in Vietnam’s market, investing in various projects, contributing technical expertise, engaging in power trade or supplying electrical equipment, and initiating several notable projects.

One such project is the Ha Khau 110kV power transmission line, which commenced operations in September 2004. The transmission line, connected to Vietnam’s power grid through 5 channels and 7 circuits, has transmitted nearly 40 billion kWh of electricity, with over 90% of that being clean energy. This continuous support has been instrumental in promoting the local economy in Vietnam.

This event will further create opportunities for Chinese businesses, particularly power companies, to explore cooperation and investment prospects in Vietnam’s market.

Aside from the exhibition, a specialized workshop on energy-saving and green energy activities will take place on July 20. Business-to-business connections and negotiations will occur throughout the event, alongside visits to electricity and energy equipment manufacturing plants. Additionally, participating companies will showcase and promote their latest products and technologies.

In conclusion

Vietnam ETE and Enertec Expo 2023 have drawn significant interest from Chinese power companies and other global players in the electricity sector. The event provides a platform to explore potential partnerships, technological advancements, and investment opportunities in Vietnam’s fast-growing green energy market.
